Additives and aids in a sustainable diet legislative framework
In other sections of this site is proposed at the Redesign stage, the creation of enabling legislation, the Canada Food Act, that brings legal force to a range of interventions, including those related to a sustainable diet. Once regional sustainable diet guidelines have been developed (see Goal 2, Demand - supply Coordination, Substitution, Sustainable Diets), it becomes feasible to use the Canada Food Act and its regulations, based on the guidelines, to design sustainable diet assessment protocols that can be used for multiple purposes, including the determination of appropriate additives, aids and packaging materials.
